BEAVERTON, Ore., April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Creative Safety Supply's co-founder Nick Jordan announced today that in light of the recent earthquake in Nepal and increases in violence in the United States, Americans should remember to value human life and take precautions to keep each other safe.
On Monday April 27, 2015, the Guardian reported that the April 25th Nepal earthquake had claimed over 4,000 lives, including four Americans. The report stated that the State Department confirmed that Google engineer Dan Fredinburg, filmmaker Tom Taplin and Eve Girawong, a medic, are among the dead.
Nepal faces a long, challenging recovery, which could be hindered by continued aftershocks.
"These recent events serve as a reminder of the importance of human life," Jordan said. "While natural disasters like this one in Nepal can't be avoided, it's important for governments, businesses and individuals to take steps to prepare for emergencies and keep people safe."
In the workplace, preparing for emergencies involves evacuation plans, training of personnel and stocking first aid kits. Similar measures can be taken at home.
Additionally, Creative Safety Supply suggests using an industrial label printer to create signs for exit routes, evacuation assembly areas, and workplace hazards. When a natural disaster, violence or accident occurs, people must respond quickly. Clear signs and labels help facilitate a rapid response.
Labeling dangerous areas can also save thousands of lives in the United States and elsewhere each year. In many cases, these visual aids prevent dangerous situations from arising in the first place. Creating signs and labels with a label printer is a simple way to convey information in the locations where people need it.
Not all dangers are avoidable, but taking proactive safety measures can prevent many common accidents in the workplace, at home and in public places.
