Incisive Surgical Announces Breakthrough Peer Review Clinical Study

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Incisive Surgical, Inc. today announced a peer-reviewed publication of a profound clinical study. The study, titled "Skin Closure With Subcuticular Absorbable Staples After Cesarean Section Is Associated With Decreased Analgesic Use," was published online by the Archives of Gynecology & Obstetrics Journal in October 2011. The authors, Drs. Joshua Nitsche (Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, MN) and Thomas Howe (District One Hospital, Fairbault, MN), concluded that "our results suggest that the use of subcuticular absorbable staples for skin closure at the time of cesarean section may lead to less in-hospital analgesic use … are associated with less pain immediately post-operatively when pain can be the most difficult to control… [and] would result in a cost savings of approximately $200 per patient even after considering the higher cost of the absorbable staple device."
