Independa Solutions Now Generally Available on Specially Designed TVs and Tablets

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Independa™ today announced that its Independa Integrated CloudCare suite that promotes supported independence is now generally available on LG television sets and Samsung tablet computers specially designed, optimized and supported for Independa Angela™.

The news coincides with the opening of the Digital Health Summit at the 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, where Independa is exhibiting in Booth # 26520.

Independa Integrated CloudCare is a holistic system combining the Caregiver Web Application, the Angela interface for care recipients, and an integrated suite of wireless health devices and home sensors.

Professional and family caregivers drive the easy-to-install-and-use solution via the Caregiver Web Application, a browser-based dashboard, setting rules and thresholds to be alerted only when something isn't quite right. Centralized monitoring, reporting and analyses are provided as part of a long overdue, more effective and yet less costly approach to remote caregiving – available when care cannot be provided in person.

The Independa Angela portion of the solution is now available in two formats.

Under a previously announced relationship, LG Electronics USA has developed innovative and easy-to-use, commercial Pro:Centric Healthcare TVs in partnership with Independa. This integrated, embedded solution represents an unprecedented step in eldercare technologies by allowing important prompts and services all to appear over normal television programing. Each TV comes with a custom-designed camera and microphone component, as well as a "Magic Remote" with a scrolling ball for an easy on-screen point-and-click user interface.    

For care recipients who prefer tablets, under a new agreement with Samsung Health announced today, Independa will make Angela available on the popular Samsung 10-inch Galaxy Tab™ 2 tablet, dedicated and streamlined by Samsung for deploying Angela.

Independa's groundbreaking supported independence solutions are now available to distribution partners wishing to resell the suite of products. The company said it is actively engaged in discussions of potential partnerships with health insurers, senior living facilities, home care agencies and other healthcare organizations.  

Last week, Independa expanded its multifaceted partnership with LG Electronics by announcing LG's participation in Independa's Series A round of funding.
