Infinite Energy Offers Georgia's Lowest Fixed Natural Gas Rate Since 2002
GAINESVILLE, Fla., March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in ten years, Georgia residents can lock in a natural gas price under $0.50/therm.
Yesterday, the Georgia Public Service Commission released suppliers' rates for March 2012, and Infinite Energy offered a 12 month plan for $0.499/therm--the lowest fixed rate posted since March 2002.
Georgia consumers may choose from two kinds of rates, fixed or variable. A variable rate changes every month depending on market activity. A fixed rate secures a certain price per therm for a period of time, usually 6 or 12 months.
Over the past 12 months, the average variable rate for all Georgia suppliers was $0.9887/therm, so choosing $0.499/therm for the next 12 months means that Georgia customers could pay nearly half what they did last year for gas charges.
While gasoline prices have risen across the country, natural gas prices have decreased significantly.
"Due to a warm winter and an ample supply of natural gas, prices have tumbled to the lowest point in ten years," said Infinite Energy CEO Darin Cook.
