MARIETTA, Ga., March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoMart has successfully proven compliance with the background screening industry's strictest professional standards achieving accreditation with the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). This industry seal recognizes a screening company's commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement.
NAPBS accreditation has been earned by less than 5% of the employment screening industry, with InfoMart as one of the largest to meet or exceed the measurable standard of competence as governed by the Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC).
"As the only employment screening company worldwide to achieve both NAPBS accreditation as well as recognition on Security magazine's Security 500, InfoMart undoubtedly offers applicants and clients the highest degree of compliance, technology and security," said Chip Esposito, InfoMart's CEO.
To become accredited, consumer reporting agencies must pass a rigorous onsite audit, conducted by an independent auditing firm, of its policies and procedures as they relate to six critical areas: consumer protection, legal compliance, client education, product standards, service standards, and general business practices. The NAPBS Background Screening Credentialing Council oversees the application process and is the governing accreditation body that ensures the background screening organizations seeking accreditation meet or exceed a measurable standard of competence.
"Accreditation is a testament to InfoMart's leadership and workforce," said Tammy Cohen, President and Chair of InfoMart. "Our collective experience results in servicing our applicants and clients to the highest of industry standards, from compliance and service standards to our general business practices."
Each year, U.S. employers, organizations and governmental agencies request millions of consumer reports to assist with critical business decisions involving background screening. Background screening reports are categorized as consumer reports and are currently regulated at both the federal and state level.
Since its inception, NAPBS has believed that there is a strong need for a singular cohesive industry standard and therefore created the Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP). Governed by a strict professional standard composed of requirements and measurements, the BSAAP is positioned to become a widely recognized seal of approval that brings national recognition to background screening organizations (also referred to as Consumer Reporting Agencies). This recognition will stand as the industry seal representing a background screening organization's commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement.
