Innovative Company Offers Solution to California Auto Dealers
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With the signing of Assembly Bill 1215 into law by California Governor Jerry Brown, automobile dealers throughout the state must run a vehicle history report from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) for every used car sold on their lot. The new measure is aimed at providing consumers with crucial vehicle safety information prior to a purchase.
Florida-based Auto Data Direct, Inc., (ADD) offers a cost effective solution to automobile dealers that not only complies with the law, but enhances the consumer's car buying experience. ADD has developed a QR code based product that allows dealers to print and affix a StiQR to the vehicle which, when scanned with a smart phone, instantly provides to the buyer a full NMVTIS report and other information included by the dealer. The StiQR allows consumers to shop a dealer's lot and receive pertinent vehicle safety and historical information whether the dealership is open or closed.
According to ADD's President Jim Taylor, "Our company developed the StiQR prior to this new California legislation with goals similar to those cited by the bill sponsors. We wanted to give automobile dealers a unique tool at the point of sale that instantly provides a vehicle history and builds confidence with their customers. In our view, the StiQR is a perfect fit for California dealers who want to exceed the expectations of lawmakers and their customers."
ADD was the first third-party provider to contract with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), and offer consumer and dealer access to NMVTIS. The company also contracts with 25 jurisdictions and provides real-time motor vehicle data to DPPA qualified companies. The real-time database, coined DMV123, provides registrant, title, lien holder, and other vital information necessary for dealers to determine whether a trade-in is appropriate.
