Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad Expands Legal Team in Fight for Victim's Rights in Alcatel-Lucent, S.A.'s Criminal Settlement
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Burton W. Wiand, Chair of the law firm representing Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad ("ICE") in connection with the assertion of the company's rights as a victim of the international bribery and corruption scheme conducted by Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. currently pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, announced today the addition to ICE's legal team of Professor Paul G. Cassell. Professor Cassell currently teaches law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, and is widely recognized for his advocacy of criminal victims' rights. Professor Cassell is currently the Ronald N. Boyce Presidential Professor of Law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. Prior to this position, Professor Cassell served as a Federal Judge in the District of Utah, and has previously clerked for former Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and current Justice Antonin Scalia. In addition to spending a number of years with the United States Department of Justice, Professor Cassell has extensive experience litigating victims' judicial rights and has authored and testified extensively in such matters, including before Congress and the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
