Integrity Transitional Hospital Notifies Individuals of a Privacy Incident

DENTON, Texas, Oct. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrity Transitional Hospital ("Integrity") announced today that they are notifying individuals related to a privacy incident. 

Integrity receives laboratory specimens from companies that work with various healthcare providers, and then submits these specimens to laboratories for testing.   In the course of providing this service and for billing purposes, Integrity maintains certain patient information on specimens submitted by the healthcare providers.  On August 15, 2016, Integrity learned that suspicious activity on its network may have affected the systems related to its laboratory services.  Integrity immediately began an investigation, with the assistance of an expert forensics company, to determine the scope of the incident.  The investigation determined that an unauthorized individual potentially could have accessed information maintained on the laboratory systems, which may have included lab results, lab testing information, health insurance information, and scanned driver's licenses.  The affected information did not include Social Security numbers or other financial or account information. 

Integrity is committed to the security of the sensitive information it maintains and is taking this matter very seriously.  To help prevent a similar incident from reoccurring, Integrity is enhancing existing security on its systems related to the laboratory information it maintains.  Although, to date, there is no evidence that any information has been misused, Integrity began mailing letters to affected individuals on October 14, 2016, and Integrity established a dedicated call center to answer any questions affected individuals may have.
