Intercommunity Action Hires Former State Representative Kathy Manderino
Well-known local leader becomes Interac's Senior Vice President
PHILADELPHIA, April 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- We are pleased to announce that former Pennsylvania State Representative Kathy Manderino has joined Interac as Senior Vice President. Manderino represented Pennsylvania's 194th Legislative District for 18 years. In the newly-created position of Senior Vice President, Manderino's focus will be on representing Interac to the community, government officials and entities, and provider organizations. She will be taking a leadership role in developing and implementing Interac's strategic plan, and in exploring potential new programs and avenues for growth and development.
"As an elected official, I learned how important it is for individuals and families to have access to quality human services, whether it was counseling for a troubled child or quality adult day care for their aging parent," Manderino said. "I also came to appreciate the quality of the services provided right in my own backyard by Interac. I am very excited about joining their team."
For most of her tenure in the House of Representatives, Manderino served on the Appropriations, Health and Human Services, Insurance, and Judiciary Committees. As a more senior legislator, she chaired the Appropriations sub-committee on Human Services, the Judiciary sub-committee on Family Law, and the House Committee on Ethics: an impressive array of credentials for a leader in publicly-funded human services. Manderino is considered a policy expert and leading advocate for older Pennsylvanians, people in recovery, and those with disabilities. She is a past recipient of the Raymond R. Webb, Jr. Award for Leadership from the Pennsylvania Community Providers Association, George Bonadio Leadership Award from Methodist Home for Children, Legislators Award from Pennsylvania Council of Children & Youth and Family, and Trailblazer Award from Pathways PA.
David Bolin, Interac's President and CEO, said "Not only has Kathy done an outstanding job in representing and assisting her constituents in the 194th District for the past 18 years, she is a recognized state-wide leader when it comes to advocating for older residents and people with disabilities. Interac strives to provide the highest possible quality of care, and to maintain the highest ethical standards. Kathy shares these values, and we are delighted that she is bringing her skills, experience and dedication to serving to Interac."
