InterfaceFLOR Carving Out Larger Share of Hospitality Business With Addition of New Division
LAGRANGE, Ga., May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- InterfaceFLOR is headed to HD Expo 2011 with a newly organized division dedicated exclusively to the hospitality industry. Interface HOSPITALITY is being led by Charley Knight, a 17-year veteran of the floor covering industry who, for the past six years, was Vice President of Sales at Shaw Hospitality Group. He is now Vice President of Interface HOSPITALITY and is building a team to more aggressively pursue business opportunities in the category.
"InterfaceFLOR has always been a company of great vision, and we recognize that the hospitality industry is gradually re-emerging and reviving from the huge hit it took during the economic recession of the past three years," said company president John Wells in announcing Knight's appointment and formation of the division. "In our estimation, the timing is right to steady our focus on the potential of this category, and we're fortunate to have an experienced marketer like Charley Knight join us to help map out our strategy and build new relationships with the end users, owners and a+d who specify for them."
According to Knight, Interface HOSPITALITY is bringing several dozen completely new modular carpet tile patterns expressly for hospitality to the Las Vegas show. "We're launching DYF—design your floor— a program that will provide inspiration plus the appropriate tools for specifiers to create a customized design through color and through the composition of the tiles," said Knight.
Further underscoring InterfaceFLOR's commitment to the new division, a director of design has been brought on board. Brian Wilson, who has been designing flooring for the hospitality sector for more than 20 years, takes on this new role. Wilson will collaborate with David Oakey, of David Oakey Designs, the exclusive designer for InterfaceFLOR and the creative engine behind all of its lines, including this latest venture.
"The superior performance characteristics of Interface HOSPITALITY's modular carpet tile paired with refreshing new designs appeals to the diverse aesthetic requirements of this specialized market," said Knight.
Of course, sustainability is unassailably the brand's signature, and Knight expects that this ultimately will give his division one more sales edge. "Quite frankly, the hospitality industry has been slower to embrace the urgency for sustainable practices. But, the greening of the supply chain is progressively becoming more important," he said.
