Interior Design Program at The Art Institute of Las Vegas Earns CIDA Accreditation

HENDERSON, Nev., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Art Institute of Las Vegas announced today that its Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design degree program has been awarded accreditation by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Accreditation was awarded for the maximum term of six years, from 2010 to 2016.

The Art Institute of Las Vegas is the second Interior Design program in Nevada to acquire this prestigious accreditation.  

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent non-profit accrediting organization for interior design education programs at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.  CIDA ensures a high level of quality in interior design education through three primary activities: setting standards for postsecondary interior design education; evaluating and accrediting college and university interior design programs; and facilitating outreach and collaboration with all stakeholders in the interior design community.

Heading up the program since 2006 is state-licensed interior design professional Nancy Bohnett. Bohnett's experience as a practicing interior designer includes work with some of Las Vegas' largest hotels as well as commercial and residential properties in nine states.  She holds her NCIDQ certification, and is licensed by the Nevada State Board of Architecture and Design.

The Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design Program is a learning experience developed for students who wish to enhance their professional skills for industries including commercial, residential, healthcare, furniture/textile, kitchen and bathroom, architectural, and hospitality design. The program teaches traditional and computerized design skills. Course topics in the Interior Design degree program include space planning, textiles, and lighting. Interior Design degree students develop a portfolio to showcase their work to potential employers.
