International Isotopes Inc. Uranium De-Conversion and Fluorine Extraction Plant Slated for Hobbs, NM Gets Strong Local Support at Recent U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Meeting
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- International Isotopes Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: INIS) announces its planned uranium de-conversion and flourine extraction plant received overwhelming local support at a recent U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) meeting held in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Steve T. Laflin, President and CEO of International Isotopes Inc. said, "We are extremely gratified with the Hobbs, New Mexico and Lea County support for our proposed uranium de-conversion and fluorine gas extraction plant. At a recent U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission meeting held in Hobbs, we had over 85 community leaders and residents in attendance including Lea County Commission Chairman, Gary Schubert and Hobbs Mayor Gary Don Reagan. Mr. Schubert presented the NRC a letter of support signed by the entire county commission. Community leaders from the county, Hobbs, Eunice and Lovington, New Mexico, as well as state representatives all spoke in support of our proposed facility. There were no comments against the project.
"We plan to build the most technologically advanced, safe and environmentally-friendly depleted uranium de-conversion and fluorine extraction facility in the nation. Our estimated $93 million facility will use the Company's patented fluorine extraction process technology to convert byproduct materials from uranium enrichment operations into readily disposable forms, and in the process, produce high-value, specialty fluoride gases, which are used to make important products such as organic complexes, photovoltaic materials, and used in ion implant processes. Our long term goal remains the same - to improve and grow shareholder value," concluded Laflin.
