ARLINGTON, Va., June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Interstate Hotels & Resorts – the leading U.S.-based global hotel management company – is dedicated to training the next generation of hospitality professionals through its summer internship program for degree-seeking students.
Welcoming the 2015 class of summer interns this June, Interstate's program is a powerful platform for students to learn from industry leaders, building a lasting professional network and gaining hands-on experience, elevating students a step ahead of their peers when it comes time to compete for jobs.
"Interstate's reputation for innovation and belief in developing the best talent in the industry speaks for itself, and we offer a wealth of possibilities for student interns," said Jim Abrahamson, chief executive officer of Interstate. "The company plays an integral part in molding the next generation of hospitality professionals, and each year Interstate's summer internship program expands, bringing in more interest from students at universities all across the country interested in gaining additional knowledge and insight into the hospitality profession."
Interns experience every facet of a hotel through the Rotational Hotel Operations Internship, or may choose the track that appeals most to their career interests, specifically on a particular division, in either Rooms or Food & Beverage. This well-rounded approach provides ambitious individuals a breadth of knowledge and the support of experienced mentors that is second to none. Each intern is guided by a team of professionals at both their host hotel and Interstate's corporate office, including their Intern Mentor, Department Head and Corporate Office Representative, who will ensure all resources and tools are available to guarantee the maximum benefit from the internship program; from consistent performance feedback to scheduled check-in meetings to assess needs are being met.
"Interning with Interstate allowed me to grow more than I ever have before, as I was immersed in the real life world of the top hotel management company," said 2014 summer intern Michelle Kim. "The summer intern program gave me exclusive inside access to top leadership. By letting me stride with them step by step, I got an experience that I couldn't have found anywhere else."
"As the leading global hotel management company, Interstate's rapid growth is constantly creating new opportunities allowing our interns the ability to learn from industry leaders and passionate hoteliers that are the very best in the business," said Laura FitzRandolph, Interstate's chief human resources officer and assistant general counsel. "This summer's class brings in 16 intelligent and resourceful individuals, from 13 universities with prestigious hospitality programs, hungry to advance in their careers and take on new challenges."
Known as the global leader in the hotel management industry, Interstate's relationships and knowledge – shared among brilliant hospitality partners – result in an expansive management team and advanced talent strength through a 460-hotel portfolio worldwide.
