Introducing Fantasy FLootball.com: First Loot-Based, Online Fantasy Football Game
Earn and Buy "Loot" to Up Stats, Better Compete
CONWAY, S.C., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fantasy football enthusiasts now have new and exciting twists to add to their weekly arsenal of yards, touchdowns, field goals, interceptions, fumbles and other standard success metrics.
Newly-launched www.FLootball.com, from Broken Envelope Productions, takes the standard fantasy football premise and adds new, interactive role playing game elements in the form of earned or purchased "Loot," allowing players to enhance their team's daily scores.
"We felt that traditional fantasy football needed something to breathe new life into a somewhat mature gaming platform, plus, we saw the opportunity to appeal to a new sector of the gaming community with an innovative user experience," says Michael Cole, co-founder of Broken Envelope Productions.
Demographically, the game generally appeals to those between ages 13 and 30. An estimated 33 million fantasy football players are involved in this robust $3.6-billion market each year in the U.S. alone.
How it Works
The basic premise of "standard" fantasy football applies to FLootball.com. Owners draft a team and then set a lineup each week just like any other standard fantasy football league. But with FLootball.com, each week, players earn "Loot Drops" based on how well their team performs. Owners can then equip players with the Loot they have earned, and also spend their Loot on more equipment in the league item shop. And, owners can not only trade players during the season, they can also trade the Loot that they earn and buy throughout the season.
The game features more than 100 pieces of Loot: helmets, jerseys, gloves, cleats and pants. Each item has specific perks and pitfalls that will boost points and penalties for game-day stats. For instance, a rare helmet might give a running back 20% more fantasy points per rushing touchdown they score. A pair of gloves might give 35% more fantasy points per 10 yards receiving.
Each fantasy player can be equipped with up to five of these stat super-charging items. It is up to each team owner to decide which players should be equipped with what Loot to maximize weekly scores – essentially giving the team owner a hand in strategy and, outcomes.
"As avid fantasy football players ourselves, we were looking to bring something new to the game. When we couldn't find it, we decided to create it ourselves," notes Cole.
As its platform matures, the company is developing mobile and tablet applications for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
