Led by CEO Steve Zanette and founded by Squared Circles, the consumer health venture studio led by entrepreneurs Alexander Gilkes, Osman Khan, and Lukas Derksen, SwimClub brings together brand building, clinical rigor, and cultural relevance to solve a health challenge too often overlooked: men's reproductive health.
A Crisis Hiding in Plain Sight
We are living through what leading scientists call "Spermageddon." Sperm counts have decreased 59% since 1973 [¹], testosterone levels have sharply declined since 2020 [²], and the average age of first-time fathers has risen by four years since 1980 [³]. Despite men accounting for 50% of infertility cases, solutions in the space have historically focused on women, leaving men underserved and silenced.
Dr. Michael Eisenberg, leading male fertility expert, Chief Scientist at SwimClub, and Director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Professor of Urology at Stanford, commented:
"We're living through Spermageddon. Driven by modern realities such as diet, increased stress, and environmental toxins, sperm counts have plummeted. Yet no one is addressing men directly. SwimClub represents the first product to take a clinically-grounded, male-first approach to this crisis."
A Founding Story Rooted in Personal Journeys
For Osman Khan, CEO and Co-Founder of Squared Circles, the problem was personal:
"My wife Lauren, a nurse practitioner at the University of Pennsylvania, did the hard work for us — reading studies, talking to experts, and ultimately creating a regimen of supplements, sometimes over 20 different pills at a time during our long fertility journey. It was exhausting and overwhelming but out of that pain, eventually came the joy of welcoming our son. I came to the realization that we needed to build a science-backed, clinically formulated solution for sperm health — so we got to work building and launching SwimClub."
Steve Zanette, CEO of SwimClub, shared:
"My wife and I consider ourselves to be 'very healthy' and like any future parent, hoped for a straightforward, healthy journey to parenthood. After multiple miscarriages we were searching for ways to improve our chances of having a healthy child but there was almost nothing available for male fertility. That journey ultimately led me to Dr. Eisenberg's work and creating SwimClub — the product I wish I had — that can help men take control of their fertility."
The SwimClub Solution
SwimClub's proprietary Spermatogen Complex™ is the first supplement to effectively target all four key sperm parameters: count, motility, morphology, and DNA integrity. SwimClub combines 12 of the most studied ingredients at efficacious doses, sourced for potency and bioavailability, into a single daily regimen.
Key evidence-backed ingredients include:
- Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA): Improve sperm motility and membrane integrity [⁴][⁵].
- Coenzyme Q10: Enhances ATP production and protects sperm from oxidative damage, with consistent improvements in motility and concentration [⁶][⁷].
- L-Carnitine: Improves sperm motility and DNA integrity at clinically studied doses [⁸].
- Folate (5-MTHF): Supports DNA methylation and genomic stability, reducing DNA fragmentation [⁹].
- R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-ALA): Potent antioxidant shown to improve motility, morphology, and concentration in randomized trials [¹⁰].
About SwimClub™
SwimClub is the first sperm performance supplement to combine evidence-based ingredients at their clinically effective doses, in collaboration with leading fertility expert Dr. Michael Eisenberg (Stanford University). SwimClub is designed to support men at the most critical moment of their fertility journey, with the mission of reshaping the conversation around male reproductive health.
SwimClub targets the root causes of low sperm count by combating oxidative stress, supporting spermatogenesis, and enhancing cellular energy production. Over 3 months, clinically-informed nutrients like Omega-3s, Zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and L-Carnitine work together to increase sperm production and overall fertility potential.
