PITTSBURGH, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "As an RN, I routinely empty bedpans. Sometimes the contents of the bedpans spill, and then there is a lot of cleaning up to do," said an inventor from Valley Center, Calif. "In order to avoid messes, as well as to keep bedpans from sticking to patients' skin, I came up with this idea."
She created a prototype for the BEDPAN SLEEVE to provide a cleaner, more efficient and comfortable way for patients to use a bedpan. The accessory prevents heavily soiled bedpans from being tossed into the trash. It minimizes wasted linens and the resulting increased expense. The unit keeps bedpans from spilling so that all the bed linens have to be replaced. It is designed to be easier on patients' skin. Additionally, the invention reduces contamination risks for caregivers.
The original design was submitted to the San Diego office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
