DETROIT, Oct. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ida Byrd-Hill has been chosen as a Finalist to present in the Urban Innovation Challenge at the Inner City Economic Summit Transforming Urban Ecologies October 23, 2013 in Cleveland, OH.

Inner City Economic Summit is hosted by The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), a nonprofit research and strategy organization and the leading authority on U.S. inner city economies and the businesses that thrive there. inVENTURE TRIP^™ is an Invention Lab and early stage seed fund that caters to Black Males ages 13 - 23,  to create businesses in the inner urban cities.

Music stars have glamorized drug gangsters, Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes, as these gentlemen commandeered huge illegal business enterprises, generating millions of dollars, in a time when a factory was the only employment opportunity for Black men. Despite the bleak statistics, Black men dream to build multi-million dollar enterprises and have thus resorted to hustling and crime to earn a share of the American dream.

Most crime, in inner cities like Detroit, is due to the drug trade and competitive turf war. Research shows Black men possess the same entrepreneurial talents as mainstream entrepreneurs as they are able to build vast drug enterprises. However, they are selling the wrong product. If Black men had an opportunity to create legal inventions and products to combine with their genius entrepreneurial talents,  the drug trade would be severely reduced.
