iShareFreely Launches for Political Campaigns
Mobile Video Tool Combines Digital Marketing with Real-time Research
WASHINGTON, July 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A consortium of companies involved in election campaigns, public affairs, and digital engagement-research have come together to launch a new mobile video tool called iShareFreely. iShareFreely is an easy to use mobile video creation, editing, and publishing tool which uniquely allows its users to insert poll questions into the video stream. In beta now, supporting iOS and Android, the non-partisan product will be fully launched and generally available in September 2015. The product was announced today at Campaigns & Elections' "The Art of Political Campaigning" conference.
"Previous election cycles saw the importance digital technologies-- social media in 2008 and big data in 2012—and the iShareFreely consortium believes 2016 will be won by use of personal videos from the candidates to their constituents," said Stanton Smith, principal at public affairs firm Smarter Story, an iShareFreely consortium co-founding member. "Indeed, having been a RNC Communications Advisor in my past, I have seen firsthand how innovative communication tools can win elections and sway public opinion. And with mobile or homemade videos, we are already seeing its emergence in this 2016 election cycle in the presidential campaign launches of Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, Bobby Jindal, and others."
iShareFreely allows campaign teams an easy way to use their smart phones to capture videos of candidates at any time, to edit those videos in their phone on the spot, to (optionally) overlay poll questions related to the candidate or issue being discussed, and publish those videos to the web and social media venues. Videos previously recorded can be imported into the app, and the editing tool allows users to easily concatenate video clips into one. Music or audio tracks can be overlaid after the video is shot, and 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios are supported with the MPEG4 video streams. The video creation engine has been built around technology from FRUIO, Inc.
The iShareFreely videos sent out from the candidates are meant to bypass the layers of spin of the traditional media and to be consumed directly by the electorate; similarly the public can respond back to the candidates providing videos, audios, or written messages back to the candidates, or simply click on an embedded poll question which is aggregated as valuable feedback.
"We think what really sets this app apart from others like it, what makes it so well suited for politics-- for candidates running for office at any level and also for public affair campaigns-- is the ability to provide feedback to the message givers," said Brad Kayton, 1World Online's Politics General Manager; 1World is also iShareFreely consortium co-founding member. "No other video app allows poll insertion, for example, and 1World has opened up its online engagement and research platform backend to support the advanced management and analytics of the poll results and other iShareFreely feedback channels from the general public."
iShareFreely is a mobile app and software-as-a-service. Pricing-- which will be tiered based on local, state, or national campaigns and free to the general public to view/consume and provide feedback-- will be announced in September, as well as additional iShareFreely consortium members.
