The UK's IT and telecoms jobs market has accelerated in 2013, with job opportunities growing by 11.46 per cent since March last year, according to the latest Reed Job Index - the UK's largest monthly measure of employment opportunities.
Around the UK, the majority of regions have more IT and telecoms jobs on offer compared with one year ago. In March there were 11,411 jobs vacancies posted on reed.co.uk.
Regionally, Scotland comes out on top, with a significant increase of 72.5 per cent in the past year. Job opportunities in Yorkshire and the Humber have grown by 33.6 per cent over the same period.
Despite the average yearly wage in IT and telecoms dipping slightly since February, salaries in the sector were faring well overall, with a 12.11 per cent increase when compared with March last year.
Martin Warnes, Managing Director of reed.co.uk, said: "Given recent austerity measures, and as we all still feel the pinch of the recession, commentators could be forgiven for forecasting a decline in the IT and telecoms industry.
"Our figures, however, paint a very positive picture and, perhaps owing to the growth in high- speed broadband, the arrival of 4G and the surge of online retailers, the sector is continuing to flourish."
