PHOENIX, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The weather is warming up and it's the perfect time of year to enjoy food, friends and family outdoors. Grab a blanket and picnic basket…and U-Haul International, the leader in do-it-yourself moving, will help with the rest. From what food to bring to how to get it there, U-Haul can help make your picnic great.
Typically, a picnic consists of foods that you don't need to keep cool or hot… just whip up some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and pack them in the basket. But, if you would like to take things to the next level, we suggest a few recipes that don't need to be refrigerated.
Toni Jones, director, U-Haul Social Media, suggests, "Peanut butter and banana sandwiches! This is as simple as it sounds, but if you want to make it fancy, substitute Nutella for your regular peanut butter!"
- Barbeque Chicken Sandwiches: Simply mix up ½ cup of your favorite BBQ sauce with one can of white-meat chicken, and spread it on some bread! If you want to add a little tang, sprinkle a dash of dill relish on the mix.
- Tuna and Crackers: A can of tuna and individual packages of mayo, mustard and relish can be packed along with bread or crackers. Just pop the top on the tuna, mix in the mayo, mustard and relish, and spread on bread or crackers. Salmon works for this, too.
- Salmon and Potato Salad: Plan ahead for this recipe by mixing all ingredients together except the canned potatoes and salmon. Store in a quart-size bag until ready to use.
