Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholar Chionque Mines Introduces President of the United States Barack Obama

LANSDOWNE, Va., Dec. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the White House College Opportunity Summit today President Barack Obama will be introduced by Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholar Chionque Mines, who will share her moving account of overcoming family challenges while growing up in a violence- and drug-stricken neighborhood in Philadelphia. She will also mention the organizations, including the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, and the people who helped her on her path to becoming a successful student at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.

Joining the Foundation as one of its Young Scholars, Chionque quickly distinguished herself as a smart, hard-working, and talented student. Today she is a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholar majoring in medical sociology and minoring in women, gender, and sexuality studies. She has thrived at Goucher in and out of the classroom, not only as a strong student, but also as a leader in the college's community.
