Jack Weprin Rises to U.S.A. Rotax Senior Class in Grand Style

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rotax pilot Jack Weprin, 16, surprised the racing community this weekend with his unannounced debut in the Rotax Senior class, the most competitive Rotax class in the United States. It was a double debut as it was also his first ever SKUSA event. At NOLA Motorsports Park, site of next month's Rotax Grand Finals, Weprin dominated the Senior classes in the final round of the SKUSA Texas Pro Kart (TPK) Challenge as he raced to the top of the podium in both Saturday's and Sunday's events.

With just over two years racing under his belt, Weprin's run has been impressive. He began the year with a similar double-header domination by winning both rounds of the Florida Winter Tour (FWT) Rotax Series at Palm Beach International Raceway as a Junior, where he also took the podium in the FWT Formula Kart Series in TAG Junior class. He achieved impressive results in both Series, and is the current reigning Champion of the FWT Formula Kart Series in the TAG Junior class.  Since then, Weprin's had impressive showings and numerous podiums in various series in the U.S.A. and Europe, and is stepping into the SKUSA arena enthusiastic to participate in the prestigious SKUSA SuperNationals XVII in Las Vegas next month. Based on this weekend's results he seems amply prepared for his earlier than expected move to Senior.

This weekend all of the TPK Series point leaders were on the grid. Also participating were competitive up and comers such as Floridians Daniel Roeper and Roger Ralston Jr., alongside seasoned karting champions such as Louis Pagano, and Arie Ouimet, who have transitioned to racing trucks and cars respectively. In such a competitive field Weprin knew he would need a smart and aggressive drive to go home with the 1^st place trophies, but his determination never wavered. On Sunday, he crashed in the 1^st heat and had to start the 2^nd heat towards the back of the 28 kart grid. However, by the end of the 2^nd heat he'd forged his way up to 6^th position for the Final grid. His momentum carried over to the Final in which Weprin managed to find his way into 1^st place early on and though it was a tough battle throughout he emerged victorious.

Weprin was, as always when racing in the U.S., with SLV Motorsports brothers Nicolas and Thomas Silva who ensured Weprin was well prepared and well equipped to be competitive. Engines were provided by current DD2 US National Champion, Daniel Formal of 37 Racing Engines, by Advanced Karting, and were clearly up to the competitive caliber necessary for this challenging effort.

Next for Weprin will be the Pan American Rotax Max Challenge, also at NOLA, where he hopes to earn a ticket to the Rotax World Grand Finals.
