PASADENA, Calif., Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it has been appointed to a new framework panel for the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). The panel is designed to provide local authorities and other public sector organizations with access to technical engineering services more quickly and at a reduced cost.
The contract duration is four years.
A total of 15 companies have been appointed to HCA's new Engineering Panel. Panel members are expected to offer their technical services more efficiently and at lower costs than they would on an open market basis.
The services offered cover a variety of disciplines including transport and highways, water, geotechnical and remediation, environmental, structural, infrastructure services and mechanical and electrical engineering.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Duff stated, "We are delighted to continue our relationship with the HCA through the appointment to this Framework and look forward to providing them with further quality services."
Over 180 local authorities and other partners have procured well over $159 million (100 million pounds Sterling) of business in less than three years through the HCA's existing panels, which the Agency estimates have already resulted in a savings to the public sector of around $39 million (25 million pounds). In establishing its new panels, the HCA has further increased the potential for savings by negotiating better tender rates from the successful companies.
