MCLEAN, Va., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- JER Partners (JER) announced today that John Haymes and Kevin Nishimura have been promoted to Director and Aleksandar Obradovic and Kelly Sheehy have been promoted to Vice President. These promotions are in recognition of the significant contributions and accomplishments of these individuals. Nishimura and Sheehy are based in the firm's headquarter office in McLean, Virginia, and Haymes and Obradovic are based in JER's London office.
John Haymes is responsible for the finance, accounting, treasury, tax (structuring and compliance) and portfolio management functions of JER's business in Europe. Previously, Mr. Haymes spent two years in Brazil, Argentina and Colombia with JER participating in the due diligence of a wide range of investment opportunities, focused on valuation, finance, structuring and accounting issues. Prior to joining JER, Mr. Haymes was an Assistant Vice President with the Global Capital and Balance Sheet Management Group of Credit Suisse First Boston and a Senior Auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City. Mr. Haymes holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree in accounting from James Madison University. Mr. Haymes is also a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to English, Mr. Haymes is fluent in Portuguese.
Kevin Nishimura is a member of the U.S. investment management team. While at JER, he has participated in the acquisition of over $4.1 billion in real estate assets, including corporate M&A, recapitalizations, joint ventures and mezzanine debt/preferred equity placements, across all property types. Mr. Nishimura's primary focus area is in real estate related operating businesses, including more than five years of experience managing JER's limited service and extended stay hotel platform comprising more than 150 hotels and 13,000 rooms. Mr. Nishimura has also participated in the acquisition and asset management of JER's healthcare real estate investments Tandem Healthcare and the asset management and disposition of the Alterra Assisted Living Portfolio, a joint venture investment with Nationwide Health Properties. Prior to joining JER Partners in 2003, Mr. Nishimura was a financial analyst at Eichner & Norris. Mr. Nishimura earned a BSBA with concentrations in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Aleksandar Obradovic is a member of the European investment management team focusing on asset management activities predominantly for retail office and hotel investments in Germany. Prior to joining JER Partners in 2006, Mr. Obradovic worked at the 3i Group (Buyout team) and Commerzbank in Frankfurt (Investment Banking – ECM). Mr. Obradovic holds a Master Degree in Management from ESCP-EAP in Paris (European School of Management) and a Bachelor degree in Music from the University of the Arts, Belgrade. Mr. Obradovic is a native speaker in German and Serbo-Croat and has a basic understanding of several Eastern European languages.
Kelly Sheehy is a member of the U.S. investment management team. His primary focus area is in healthcare and senior housing investments. Since joining JER in 2005, Mr. Sheehy has been involved in $4.6 billion of healthcare and real estate acquisitions and their asset management, including Genesis HealthCare, Aviv Healthcare, the CapitalSource skilled nursing mezzanine loan and the public to private buyout of Highland Hospitality. His asset management responsibilities have included the day to day management of Genesis HealthCare and the oversight and implementation of Genesis' $100 million capital improvement and modernization plan. Prior to joining JER Partners, Mr. Sheehy worked for Accenture, where he was a Consultant in the Strategy and Business Architecture group, focusing on M&A, corporate restructurings and development strategy. Mr. Sheehy received a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia with concentrations in Finance and Information Systems.
