CHICAGO, April 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It was a night to remember, indeed, as Exhibit on Superior hosted Chicago's first-ever Musician-In-Residence contest on Thursday, April 20, in coordination with Magellan Development Group and MAC Management. More than 75 guests rocked out as the four finalists – Lizette Capili, Molly Coleman, Jeremy Gentry and Phillip-Michael Scales – played a single song that represented their signature style in attempts to win the hearts of residents and judges. One finalist, Jeremy Gentry, stood out among the pack, winning the title of the building's official "Exhibit A-Lister." Gentry received instant stardom as Exhibit on Superior's live-in musician, not to mention a full year of rent-free living.
"This entire program exceeded our expectations and then some," said Deanna Yates, Property Manager of Exhibit on Superior. "We could not be more thrilled to welcome Jeremy as our Exhibit A-Lister and feel he will bring a great vibe to the building."
The Musician-In-Residence program was designed to offer residents a never-before-seen amenity, while inspiring an up-and-coming musician to play and live in a setting that reflects his/her passions. As if the shock of winning wasn't enough, Gentry was surprised for a second time after being escorted to his new studio apartment which was decked out in top products from Brook Furniture.
"This really is a dream come true," said Gentry. "Without having the burden of a monthly rent expense, I can focus my energy on what I'm truly passionate about while living with my audience in an exceptionally cool space. I can't thank Exhibit on Superior enough for this opportunity."
Gentry is a Chicago native and studies music composition at Columbia College. His vocal range and impressive guitar skills landed him a blind audition with the latest season of "The Voice." Known for his pop covers, Gentry falls right in line with the sounds of Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake.
Guests at the event on April 20 were treated to small bites from Left Coast Food & Juice, opening in the building this summer, and drinks provided by Paramount Catering. Event emcee, Founder of Eat, Travel, Rock Kelly Rizzo did a standout job, in addition to judges Austin Ellis, former contestant on "The Voice"; Chicago Fire Soccer Player Brandt Bronico and Rob Lindquist, co-founder of Songfinch. Ellis also captivated attendees with a special performance.
"Music is something that drives people to come together and to celebrate," said David Carlins, President of Magellan Development Group. "We've been so thrilled by the unbelievable response to this program and we hope to continue to look for ways to bolster the arts community in Chicago and beyond."
Simultaneously, the Musician-In-Residence program will roll out at another Magellan residential tower – The SoBro – in Nashville on April 22, and is poised to expand into Magellan's other properties throughout the country.
