ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jewish Council for the Aging®, a private, non-profit organization located in Montgomery County, is applying to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration through the Interagency Committee on Specialized Transportation of the state of Maryland for financial assistance to aide in the purchase of a small bus for a total cost of $53,287.31. The buses are designed to meet the special transportation needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities.
The Jewish Council for the Aging® plans to provide transportation services as follows: To senior citizens and handicapped individuals in the Washington Metropolitan Area, to and from social activities; shopping; group trips and day care.
