JKM Manufacturing Achieves Coveted ISO 9001:2008 Certificate, Improving Business Performance for Its Customers

The highly coveted award is accepted worldwide as the gold standard that defines quality and demonstrates that an organization has conformed to a quality management system that can consistently provide a product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

The rigorous effort to complete the certification process was headed by JKM Contracts Manager Sherry Sellers, who has 14 years experience with the company.

It was no easy feat.

"We performed a 'gap analysis' by defining where we were against where we needed to be for certification," said Sellers.  "We then began improving our existing system. We identified our processes, reviewed our quality system documentation, and made the changes or improvements necessary to fulfill the requirements of the Standard.  This was the biggest step, and the one that took the most time and effort.  Now we have better documented procedures, and it allows us to improve the consistency of our output and streamline our processes."

Sellers, who lives in Eufaula, where JKM is based, said she called upon JKM Quality Representative Janet Gardner, Quality Engineer Kenneth Green and Test Engineer Chuck Walker to assist her.

JKM General Manager Lex Scroggins said JKM met with each department manager to go through every section that applied to them and have since implemented a training session for "new arriving employees to make sure they understand what we expect."
