JKM Manufacturing in Alabama Lands a $2.2 Million Contract to Supply Cable Assemblies to Raytheon for Defense Weapon Systems
EUFAULA, Ala., Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- JKM Manufacturing, Inc., announced today it has been awarded a $2.2 million contract to supply cable assemblies to Raytheon Company in Louisville, Ky. The cables are components in the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System and the SeaRAM Defense System. All work on the cables will be done in Eufaula, AL.

Phalanx is a rapid-fire, computer-controlled radar and 20 mm gun system that automatically acquires, tracks and destroys enemy threats. More than 850 sea-based systems have been built and deployed in the navies of 25 nations.
SeaRAM is a low-cost spiral development of the combat-proven Phalanx Block 1B radar and Rolling Airframe Missile, the latter produced jointly by Raytheon and RAMSYS of Germany. Intended to enlarge a ship's self-defense keep-out range against anti-ship missiles and fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, SeaRAM replaces Phalanx's M61A1 20 mm gun with an 11-round RAM launcher. SeaRAM is the ship self-defense system aboard the USS Independence (LCS 2).
