Joliet Auto Group Unleashes their "Street Team" to Ease Long, Cold Black Friday Lines

JOLIET, III., Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Bill Jacobs Cadillac and the rest of the Joliet Auto Group decided to surprise shoppers with a twist to their night last Friday morning, bringing lots of warm goodies to Black Friday patrons and a few surprises as they braved the cold lines for some of the best deals of the season. The Northern Illinois Cadillac dealer was impressed by the number of shoppers in the Joliet area and they wanted to make sure they had the energy to keep going all night.

There were plenty of lines of eager shoppers looking to do a little early holiday shopping at stores such as Best Buy, Target, hhgregg, Old Navy and more. At midnight, the Bill Jacobs street team, which consisted of nine employees who were affectionately referred to as the "Caffeine Crew," pulled up to the businesses with lights flashing and music bumping to surprise shoppers. The Chevy Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade that they were driving were filled with tote bags and thermos' full of coffee and hot cocoa for Black Friday shoppers.

This initiative and others that will be coming in the future is part of the Auto Group's larger goal of engaging the community in new, fun and dynamic ways. Their street team for this event was a result of the creative leadership of President Cynthia Thrall and GM Brad Wise. They recently created a new Creative Marketing position as well, a role that they thought would be perfect for Bill Jacobs' third son, Max.

"We wanted to make a tedious experience a little more exciting," said Max Jacobs.  "This isn't just about selling cars, it's about engaging with people in our community and doing something fun and worthwhile, not to mention a little bit off the beaten path."  The Bill Jacobs team gave away free t-shirts and tote bags, but more importantly, they brought smiles and uplifting energy to people who would otherwise be waiting in a very long, very cold line.
