Teams up with former colleagues to help increase capabilities of up-and-coming, government-focused real estate firm
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Highly regarded federal government real estate expert Joseph D. Delogu has accepted a position at FD Partners as its newest principal, announces David E. Alperstein, a principal at the firm, today.
Along with development and investment leadership, Delogu will be the FD Partners principal in charge of providing third-party services to entities that own buildings leased to the federal government and those seeking to enhance their business relationship with governmental agencies. FD Partners, an Arlington, Va.-based company founded in 2007, is a real estate services and development firm that focuses exclusively on the federal government real estate sector.
"The addition of Joe Delogu to our leadership team will further establish FD Partners as a leading player in the federal government real estate sector and will enable the firm to further enhance and expand the services and capabilities we provide to property owners in this specialized marketplace," Alperstein said. "Joe brings to FD Partners an impressive skill set. We believe there is no one with more experience, more expertise and more respect in the industry from an advisory standpoint."
Delogu has more than 20 years of federal government real estate experience in the public and private sectors. His specialized capabilities are recognized within the highest levels of the federal government and among property owners and investors.
Delogu's new position reunites him with Alperstein and Richard J. Mann, another principal at FD Partners. Delogu, who joined Spaulding & Slye in 1996 and was later named a partner in 2000, led the firm's federal services team that included Alperstein and Mann, both of whom he hired. Spaulding & Slye was acquired by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in 2006 and Delogu was named an international director (JLL's highest title) and served as the managing director of its government investor services team until 2008. Alperstein and Mann departed JLL in April 2009 to join Claiborne J. Williams as principals at FD Partners.
While a key goal is to grow the name recognition of the firm and to secure new business, the firm's principals also want to retain the small-business-oriented and personal culture of the firm, particularly when it comes to servicing clients and partnering on development and investment opportunities, Alperstein said.
"Richard, David, Claiborne and I have known each other for more than 10 years and we are committed to expanding the entrepreneurial culture of FD Partners and providing outstanding and uncompromised representation to our clients," Delogu said. "Together we possess the unique skills and national industry experience that will propel this early-stage company to the next level by making it a well-known, well-respected entity within the industry."
Delogu began his career in the federal government real estate sector in 1988 as a real estate specialist with the General Services Administration. In 1992 he joined The Hadsell Company as executive vice president and helped deliver the firm's federal government marketing and consulting services to property owners seeking to secure leases and services contracts from federal agencies. One of his first clients upon leaving the government sector was Spaulding & Slye, which he later joined and where he became a recognized industry leader. Following the 2008 elections Delogu was mentioned as a contender to be President Barack Obama's nominee to head the General Services Administration's Public Building Service, a position later filled by Delogu's friend and former JLL colleague, Bob Peck.
Delogu's experience includes creating and leading teams of real estate professionals that delivered services within the federal government real estate industry; representing landlords and federal agencies nationwide on more than 3,500 individual leases and/or sales transactions that totaled approximately 30 million square feet; supervising development and tenant construction of nearly 4 million square feet of commercial, industrial and biotech property; and consulting to federal agencies and landlords on matters such as housing strategies, space-acquisition plans, design and development plans, construction and move coordination.
