Journey Seeker: Company for Men Stands Out Amongst Other Groomers
GREENSBORO, N.C., Feb. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting a new business is never for the faint of heart; much less a business that hopes to someday have its own charitable foundation to help men everywhere. Yet, a trio of three friends are rolling the dice at just that, beginning with the release of their first men's grooming product, an outdoor scented beard balm. This unlikely trio began when Chris Haseltine lost everything in his life that he held dear, grabbed some clothes and his car and began a 4-month long trek across the country. He worked temp jobs and slept in his vehicle all the way from North Carolina to Seattle Washington, and in the process awoke a previously hibernating feeling of what it was to be a man. "Coming back home I arrived with a sense of clarity and purpose," said Chris, "I want to help men break free of what they are expected to become." Teaming up with his good friend Nate Jones and the woman that became the love of his life Kristen Callahan, they began building the foundations of their dream.

"We have to take the right approach to building this business," says Kristen who used her unique point of view as a woman to forge relationships and build a dedicated fan base and marketing campaign. "Most brands rely on large retailers, or expensive advertising campaigns to push their products to crowds," says Chris. "As a small company with a goal more based on charitable donations than profits, we have to bring it back to the basics. Men are rugged creatures with a special connection to outdoors, and even if they are stuck inside, we want to create an experience and a memory as a way to live through the scent."
"We are seeking out respected privately owned boutiques, salons, and retailers across the nation to carry our product," says Kristen who handles much the company's Public Relations and Marketing. "In our experience, the independent store owners take pride in offering unique, artisanal products to their customers," says Nate. So far the ideals of the company and product quality has proven to be a winning business model for these friends and colleagues. "Not only do we have awesome product, with new scents coming every year, $1 of every tin sold goes to our partner charity, The Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation," prides Kristen, "Our upcoming events such as the beard and mustache competition, sexy beards calendar, and CrossFit challenge Jerks for Jewels set us apart from other companies altogether."
Whisker Butter is one of those products that these owners believed in early on. That certainly translated into sales and shop owners, even those who had never carried a product line like this in the past. Journey Seeker is confident that with the expansion of Whisker Butter into soaps, candles, and other apothecary products, the company will excel into an area of a market often passed over by most companies. "We're on the right track to create a business that can help so many men," Chris says. "For us, that is the greatest prize success could offer."
