JST Coaching & Training Announces New Course for Anyone Interested in Student Coaching Career
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- "Empowering Students through Coaching" is a pilot course from JST Coaching & Training (http://www.jstcoaching.com/), the only organization of its kind to have its programs tested in empirical research studies. The pilot course begins February 18 and runs for 30 weeks. Participants will acquire all of the skills and competencies necessary to prepare for credentialing with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), with content based on the pioneering work of JST's founder, Jodi Sleeper-Triplett, MCC, SCAC, BCC. She has delivered training sessions to educators, therapists and coaches domestically and in Turkey, Kuwait and Italy and in institutions of higher education, including Vassar, Ohio State, University of Alabama and University of Arizona. Boasting 35 years' experience in youth coaching, Sleeper-Triplett has been interviewed in national print media and on syndicated radio, as well as been an expert guest on CNN Headline News and CBS News Atlanta.
"Empowering Students through Coaching" focuses on at-risk youth, whether that means developmental challenges like ADHD or socioeconomic disparities. Students with ADHD face particular challenges in the areas of attention, focus and executive functioning. A two-year research study conducted by the EDGE Foundation has demonstrated that the JST Coaching Model can produce powerful results. In addition, results published in the "Journal of Attention Disorders" showed that undergraduate students experienced a better sense of self-regulation following ADHD coaching.
JST Coaching & Training prepares people to work with children, teens, college students and their families – anyone aged 8 to 30 can see benefits from coaching, as the brain's executive functioning capabilities continue growing throughout a person's 20s. The new, 30-week pilot course focuses on student life coach training, with ample time given to both ADHD and executive functioning. Participants will be fully prepared to earn coaching credentials from ICF.
"Empowering Students through Coaching" is delivered via live telecast, and no prior knowledge or experience with coaching is necessary. Participants should be prepared for approximately 15 to 20 hours of self-directed study. The course includes coaching practice in small group settings, which helps participants prepare for the type of work they'll be doing as student life coaches.
In all of its programs, JST prioritizes engagement and interactivity rather than lecture or rote memorization. At the same time, JST gives participants the nuts-and-bolts insights on how to start their own successful and sustainable coaching business.
Enrollment in "Empowering Students through Coaching" is limited, but additional sections may be created to meet demand. Early enrollees are encouraged to get a head start with the course materials. Pending approval from ICF, the course will count for 60-plus hours of CCEUs.
