Julian Krinsky Camps Partner with Camp Ramah in the Poconos
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Two well-respected names in the world of summer camps and recreation, Camp Ramah in the Poconos and Julian Krinsky, have partnered to create a high-level, professionally-led, tennis program for Ramah campers with the creation of the "Ramah Tennis Academy: Powered by Julian Krinsky."
Beginning in summer 2014, The Ramah Tennis Academy will offer daily, professional tennis instruction to campers in grades 5-10 who are enrolled in the second session at Camp Ramah in the Poconos.
For over 36 years, Julian Krinsky's name has been synonymous with high-level, professional tennis instruction. His desire to partner with Camp Ramah stems from lessons learned in his childhood.
"Growing up in South Africa, going to Jewish Day School and excelling in sports, namely tennis, has allowed me the opportunity to play at Wimbledon, the French Open, and more dearly, the Maccabi Games in Israel," said Krinsky. "I am perpetually drawn to share my love of tennis and Judaism which have blessed my life and brought me to where I am today."
Camp Ramah in the Poconos, established in 1950, has for 63 years been a standard bearer in the world of Jewish camping, offering sports and activities for campers of all ages and all levels of ability.
The desire to build upon the success of the Ramah Basketball Academy, established five years ago under the professional coaching of Tamir Goodman, "The Jewish Jordan," created the camp's first high-level, intensive basketball experience for campers in grades 7-10.
"Krinsky's name has long been associated with excellence in the tennis world," said Rabbi Joel Seltzer, Director of Camp Ramah in the Poconos. "As we constantly work to innovate and evolve, this is just another example of how we are providing our campers with additional opportunities in sports education."
According to Rabbi Seltzer, "My dream is that because of Ramah Tennis Academy, there will someday be a Jewish tennis pro playing at the U.S. Open who will have gotten his or her start at Camp Ramah in the Poconos."
Julian Krinsky believes this to be the beginning of something great. "When two great programs come together, how can something greater not occur?"
