LAS VEGAS, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Office of the Civilian Medical Reserve Corps sponsored by the US Surgeon General is honoring Kansas City based KidneyWise with "The Outstanding MRC Partner Organization Award."

According to the Medical Reserve Corps website the award, "honors MRC Partner Organizations that supported MRC units in carrying out their local missions and have provided MRC units with more opportunities to participate in public health, preparedness, and response activities."
Over 1,000 attendees from the Medical Reserve Corps as well as staff from the U.S. Department of Health and Human services are expected to be on hand for the event.
Founded in 1982, our parent organization, the PKD Foundation is an internationally recognized leader in the fight against chronic kidney disease, focused on the leading genetic cause, polycystic kidney disease (PKD). In 2008, the PKD Foundation organized KidneyWise in response to the growing need of more than 50 million Americans affected by CKD for the same innovative approach to catalyzing the "crowd" to prevent CKD. We lay the ground work for this initiative with medical, ethnographic, and sociological studies in real communities across the country – called WiseCommunities.
