Kaput Products Announces Possible Containment Solution for Feral Hog Population in Texas
DENVER, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- While Texas awaits the development of birth control for the feral hog, Kaput Products has a bait for feral hogs that was tested in Texas in association with the USDA and found to be effective. The ingredient in the bait is a human drug that kills the hogs using a very low concentration. The manufacturer is hoping to get a Special Local Needs Permit for Texas only. The information was submitted to the Texas Department of Agriculture in January 2009. The company was hoping for the permit during 2010. There have been many inquiries from Texans who are concerned about these creatures that cause almost $50,000,000 of damage to crops and land each year and, as feral hogs multiply so quickly, that figure will go up if there is no intervention. The feral hog's size which can be well over 400 lbs. is also a true risk as they are aggressive and live in groups. There is also a serious risk of disease transference to domestic hog operations and potentially negative impact on wildlife that is already at risk. For more information, please call 1-866-442-3467.
