SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Feb. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Investment firms were largely successful in retaining top-tier sales and marketing executives last year, but attracting talent in 2015 will be more difficult than ever, according to the Kathy Freeman Company, a national retained executive search firm.
The firm's Sixth Annual Executive Survey of sales and marketing leaders in the investment industry found that 82% of those surveyed stayed with their firm in 2014. The extraordinarily high level of retention was due to an enhanced level of satisfaction in their current role. Fewer executives changed jobs last year than any other time since the survey began tracking this data in 2009.
"This year will be a very challenging recruiting year, particularly in light of the continued talent shortage in 2014," said Kathy Freeman Godfrey, CEO of the Kathy Freeman Company. "In 2015, the recruiting advantage may finally swing back to the larger firms that have the resources to offer the bigger jobs at more compelling compensation levels."
The report includes five major industry trends and offers recommendations to attract and retain executive talent. The findings include the following:
- Most Executive Talent Stayed Put
- Compensation Rose Nicely in 2014
- Equity Remains King
- The Job Market Heated Up
- Leadership is the Catalyst for Attracting and Retaining Top Talent
"If your business plan includes hiring, your offer must meet higher expectations this year," Freeman said. "Executives want it all – more responsibility, career growth, a synergistic cultural fit and highly competitive compensation. Without a complete package, they probably won't make a move this year."
