Kevin O'Connell First American Driver To Race Road Course In The NASCAR Euro Racecar Series
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- O'Connell Racing (OCR), a professional Southern California based motorsports and marketing company announced today that American road racing driver Kevin O'Connell will be the first driver to race in the Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series on a road course. O'Connell has signed with Team FJ of France for the inaugural American SpeedFest event to be held at the United Kingdom's Brands Hatch motor racing circuit.
Driver Kevin O'Connell commented, "We have a new venture business partner with an international ambition that will be marketing with us in North America and Europe this year and we wanted to find a unique series of racing events to compete in. The developing NASCAR series in Europe was an easy choice for us and I look forward to announcing our partner later this week."
Located in Fawkham, (Kent) England, Brands Hatch (www.BrandsHatch.co.uk) circuit's unique combination of fearsome corners and hill, dips and chambers, is considered one of the world's favorite circuits, whilst Paddock Bend remains one of the great racing corners in the world, plunging blind, fast downhill.
Brands Hatch will be transformed into a scene from Daytona with American-derived motorsport providing entertainment on track and an array of US themed activities.
Jerome Galpin, the GM of Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series stated, "We are very happy to welcome Kevin to the American SpeedFest in Brands Hatch, which will be rounds 5 and 6 of the Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series 2013. He will be the first American road course driver to join us. He will race against the best European Stock Car drivers with competitors coming from all over the world such as India, Australia, Brazil, and the Philippines. This will be a great challenge for Kevin to race on another continent and to adapt quickly to European type NASCAR racecars, but we are confident he will do a very good job on the challenging and renowned Brands Hatch track."
On track action will be headlined by the superb Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series. Led into each race by the Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car, these NASCAR V8 racecars will provide thrill a minute bumper-to-bumper racing akin to the spectacle produced by the world famous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Continuing the supercharged American theme on track will be Pickup Trucks, the Legends Cars Cup from France and the iconic Mustangs, Falcons and Corvettes from Bernie's Historic V8 Racing Association.
There will also be hundreds of American vehicles on show, a Chevrolet display, live music and the world famous Red Devils parachute display team dropping in for a flying visit.
Racing is scheduled for June 8th and 9th.
