KGS Bikes Delivers First Batch of Custom Passoni Bicycles

SAN ANTONIO, April 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- KGS Bikes, a custom bicycle design studio in San Antonio, Texas, recently completed a set of four custom KGS / Passoni bicycles. The company imports Passoni custom bicycle frames as the exclusive US dealer, and this set represents the first completed orders. The bicycles were designed in-house based on KGS proprietary methods. Passoni was contracted to produce each frame with a kit of custom painted matching components. The hand-built bicycles sold for approximately $27,000 apiece. Each was specifically created around the owner's most comfortable and efficient riding position.

Kevin Saunders, President, states, "Bicycles at this level are not only works of art, but have precision custom geometry that is an incredibly accurate match to the owner. Our technology allows us to map the owner's true position; then we fine tune the ride to match the expected road conditions or events. For example, these four bicycles will live in Vail, CO. We designed the steering and balance for climbing and for descending mountain passes with total confidence and safety."

KGS Bikes creates each bicycle as a one-of-a-kind machine for a specific owner. Saunders adds, "Our clients fly to Texas for the experience of creating the ride of their lives. We invented our BalancePoint™ positioning system with the custom bicycle owner in mind, so there is no reference to any existing bike. It takes a few hours and is a hard workout, but the data we get in the process allows us to work remotely from then on. This is how we perform for a global clientele."

These four bicycles are owned by two couples living in Mexico with homes in Vail. One of the couples is a repeat buyer from KGS Bikes. Guillermo Mascarenas states, "I studied the KGS website for a year and then brought my wife to Texas to buy two KGS / Parlee bicycles. I wanted to ride with my wife, but she was not confident on her bike and didn't like to ride it. After getting the new bikes, we rode in the Italian Alps and had so much fun my wife insisted on getting two more bikes from Kevin, but this time they had to be Italian! Kevin did the research and found Passoni for us. We brought two close friends to Kevin and commissioned four KGS / Passonis at the same time."

The joint purchase of custom bicycles may seem unusual at first, but Saunders comments, "Helping couples is a KGS Bikes specialty. Our client base is about 50% women. We find that many couples do want to ride together, but may not be at the same performance level. The benefits of our custom bicycles are so great that we often create a matching set that is perfect for each person.
