Kickstarter Backed by Famous Friends Disrupts Board Game Industry with Emojis
LOS ANGELES, June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Emojis, those cute little symbols on your messaging app, are taking over. From Reddit to Huffington Post, the Internet is awash in examples of all the clever, surprising ways people use these tiny pictograms to communicate complex ideas. A new game company - Spicy Doodles, wants to make emojis the next big thing in board games. The Company just launched a Kickstarter to raise at least $20,000 in the next 28 days to produce their new game – EMOJI CARDS.

Spicy Doodles founders Warren Chao, Sam Greenspan, and Matt Warren are banking on the convergence of emoji mania with the public's ongoing demand for fun, family-friendly party games like Apples to Apples and Taboo to make EMOJI CARDS a hit.
The EMOJI CARDS idea and Kickstarter business model has attracted the attention of Shark Tank judge Mark Cuban, as well as actor/director, TV host of America's Got Talent and Wild 'N Out, and entrepreneur Nick Cannon, who have both thrown their support behind the game.
"This game is fun," said Cuban, adding, "[I'm] glad I'm involved with the EMOJI CARDS game."
Cannon said, "I'm so excited to be a part of launching EMOJI CARDS. It combines elements of traditional party games, with the social media and youth culture inspired creativity of Emojis! And like most successful games, its success lies within its simplicity."
Cuban, Cannon and other celebrity supporters will be promoting the game through social media.
EMOJI CARDS is a team-based card game. Players use cards featuring a set of 250 custom-created emoji images to get their team members to guess the clues on their card. Using emojis to convey clues and concepts requires creative thinking by both the person giving the clues as well as their teammates. The result is a fun, interactive, high-energy board game that combines the best elements of Cards Against Humanity, Pictionary, and charades.
The game has been extensively field-tested the last few months and the Spicy Doodles team is launching the Kickstarter campaign to generate awareness of the game and pre-orders. Kickstarter and similar crowdfunding platforms have revolutionized the development, financing and distribution of physical consumer products.
You can follow EMOJI CARDS on Twitter and Instagram (both @emojicardsgame) and Facebook (facebook.com/emojicards) for updates and sneak previews of custom emoji art. Donations start at $25, which includes a pre-order of the game itself; up to $1000, which includes multiple copies of the game, expansion packs and the opportunity to submit your own custom emoji idea that will be part of the game.
