ANNAPOLIS, Md., Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The holidays are a time for giving, and one way parents and kids can help make these holidays a little brighter for less fortunate families is by earning toys for kids in need. This holiday season, CWIST, the new incentive-based digital platform, where parents and educators can share ideas, motivate kids to learn and teach valuable life lessons, is launching Kids CWIST for Kids.

Kids CWIST for Kids is a multi-week giving campaign where kids can complete learning challenges (or "cwists") to give gifts to kids in need. The program fosters giving, empathy and personal connections between kids and helps make a child's holiday wish come true.
Here's how it works: a child and parent visit www.cwist.com to select a child in need along with a gift that matches the recipient's wish. Parents assign a learning challenge ("a cwist") that the child will love doing because it's interactive and it's fun. Once the CWIST is successfully completed by a child, the toy will be delivered, along with a message of holiday cheer, to that less fortunate youngster through the Light House Shelter and Sarah's House, as well as the Homeless Education Program for Anne Arundel County Schools, MD.
CWIST is donating the first $1,000 in toys earned by children. Once that giving goal is reached, CWIST's toy retail partners are giving a 20% discount on toys purchased for children through the program. Partners include educational toy retailers Edmunds Scientifics, Franklin's Toys, and Imagine Toys.
"During the holidays, with so much promotion out there about the latest toys and video games, it's easy to get caught up in the commercial side of the season," said Chris Sleat, CEO, CWIST. "Here is a way to help kids focus on the spirit of giving.
"We are hoping for a lot of participation in this new program because the gift giving season starts early this year," said Sleat. "Once we exceed the CWIST donation point, parents can still help their child grant another youngster's wish by purchasing the toy from our partners for 20% off the retail price."
This year the giving season begins early with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah falling on Thanksgiving, and Christmas just a few weeks later.
