Kindred Hospital Houston Northwest, With Wound Care Specialists, Opens Outpatient Wound Healing And Hyperbaric Center

HOUSTON, July 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kindred Hospital Houston Northwest, with Wound Care Specialists, is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient wound healing center.  The wound healing center provides outpatient services to people with chronic, hard to heal wounds. Chronic wounds include diabetic foot wounds which can lead to amputation, lower leg wounds related to blood flow issues, post-surgical wounds which have delayed closure, and traumatic injury wounds which are complex and demonstrate delayed healing. The wound center will provide Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), which is the medical use of concentrated oxygen at levels higher than atmospheric pressure.  HBO therapy has numerous indications some of which include stalled diabetic foot wounds, necrotizing soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis, radiation necrosis, and failed skin grafts or flaps. 

Last year, over eight million people suffering from chronic wounds were treated in the United States, and that number continues to grow. As the prevalence of complicating conditions such as diabetes, obesity, lower leg vascular diseases and heart disease rises, so do the numbers of associated wounds.
