Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution Holding Ltd to be Wireless Communication Partner of Qualcomm 2011 "Wireless Reach" Initiative in China

XI'AN, China, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution Holding Ltd ("Kingtone" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: KONE), a China-based software and solutions developer focused on wirelessly enabling businesses and government agencies to more efficiently manage their operations, today announced that it was selected as a wireless communication partner of the Qualcomm 2011 "Wireless Reach" initiative in China.

Qualcomm formalized "Wireless Reach" in 2006 and it since has grown into a global initiative with 56 projects in 28 countries. The initiative supports programs and solutions that bring the benefits of connectivity to underserved communities globally through the use of 3G wireless technologies. "Wireless Reach" projects create new ways for people to communicate, learn, access health care, improve the environment and reach global markets.

This is the second time that Kingtone has been selected as Qualcomm's partner in China for this world renowned initiative. Kingtone participated in "Wireless Reach" in 2009 and cooperated with China Children and Teenager's Fund, China Rural Medical Doctor's Training Center, Hebei Women's Association and China Telecommunications Corporation to provide 3G mobile phones and computers with proprietary technology and pre-installed health care applications to a hundred medical doctors in twenty-one health clinics in Xian county of Hebei province.

China is a developing country with nearly 70% of its population living in rural areas. The current health care in rural China is undeveloped with some areas lacking a qualified rural clinic. Rural medical doctors, due to the lack of funds, do not have enough capacity to serve the rural people. Through the "Wireless Reach" project in 2009, Kingtone provided 3G based mobile phones and computers enabling medical doctors in rural areas in Hebei province to receive timely medical information and more effectively treat patients. The project also included the development of specialized medical training courses for rural doctors to help minimize misdiagnosis and delayed treatment, thereby enhancing health care and affording children from low-income families in rural areas better medical and health services.

In 2011, Qualcomm will grant Kingtone $250,000 to continue to develop its 3G wireless communication system to extend the reach of rural doctors to better serve the heath care needs in underserved areas in China.
