Kirstie Alley Launches Phitter.com Fitness and Weight Loss Community

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Kirstie Alley has launched a new fitness and healthy living focused micro-blogging community called Phitter as a gift from Kirstie and her new weight loss program to encourage community talk and member support around weight loss, diet, health, recipes, wellness and work out tip topics.

As stated in the site's mission statement:

"Phitter.com is a "phitness phocused" community that encourages members to talk, or "Phit," about fitness, weight loss, working out, dieting, exercising, and healthy living while making new "Phriends" and having "Phun!"

Kirstie kicked off the launch of Phitter.com on Christmas Eve December 24, 2009 with a tweet on her Twitter channel, @kirstiealley:

Phitter users have personal profile pages that display their "phollowers" and who they are "phollowing." Phitter allows Phitter'ers to write and post messages, or "phit," in 140 characters or less, either through SMS texting or on the web, as well as send private messages to others with "Phit In" and "Phit Out," and post phavorite messages to their profile. Users can also join groups and subscribe to other Phitter channels or RSS feeds to read their phits. Furthermore, Phitter lets users add their Twitter account information to send Phitter notices automatically to Twitter, and subscribe to Twitter friends who have already joined Phitter.

Phitter is also currently buzzing at Twitter with 17 pages of tweets where users have been tweeting about Phitter, its purpose and community. Twitter user @SissyHand, tweeted: "just joined 'Phitter'! I'm so excited!! :) wooo! Let's Phit this!!"
