K.L. Jack & Co. Partners With Steven Delano Memorial Fund Holiday Toy Drive
PORTLAND, Maine, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Industrial supplies distributor K.L. Jack & Company, headquartered in Portland, Maine, has partnered with the Steven Delano Memorial Fund Holiday Toy Drive to provide toys, gifts and donations for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. K.L. Jack leveraged its resources and locations throughout Maine to lend a helping hand to the fundraiser. The toy drive is taking place now through December 18, with various drop-off locations across the state. Donations can also be made directly to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital year-round.
In 2013, K.L. Jack partnered with toy drive founder Kevin Grondin to help collect donations. The company provided its Gorham, ME warehouse as a storage facility. That year their combined efforts yielded over $20,000. Now, the partnership looks to continue its success.
"After meeting Kevin and hearing his incredibly touching story, I was impressed by his dedication to keep his best friend's memory alive while helping out such a great cause like The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital," said Steve Prescott, Marketing Manager at K.L. Jack & Co.
"It wasn't a matter of if we would join Kevin's efforts to bring smiles to the young patients faces at BBCH with a toy drive, but rather, how successful can we make this event each year? In our first year joining Kevin in this event we were able to collect over $20,000 in donations, doubling what was collected the previous year," he continued.
Grondin began the fundraiser in 2010 after suffering a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of his close friend Steven Delano. The toy drive was Grondin's way of paying tribute to his friend by helping out children in need. Grondin carried the project on his back for the first three years with strong results, collecting close to $10,000 a year. All donations went directly to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, Maine's only full-service children's hospital.
