The competition is designed to honor the organizations that have demonstrated superiority in their ability to develop, create, implement and execute marketing strategies and tactics that define excellence.

The awards recognize that the website met and surpassed the standards of excellence that comprise the Internet's most professional work. 

The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, and innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area — an achievement only a fraction of sites in website competition earn.
