KRG will hallmark this business anniversary with a celebration in September, 2014 along with the release of an e-book covering the history of the company and the communities served for the past 100 years. The founding of KRG came one year after the Great Flood of Columbus, Ohio, where approximately 100 people died and others escaped by climbing to roof and tree tops. (In fact, 13 people were rescued from a single tree, according to the Ohio Historical Society records.) Launched by Paul H. Kohr, KRG was created to serve the expanding real estate needs of this thriving and rebuilding community.

In 1914, the founding of KRG was one of many historical events still noted today. In 1914:

• Babe Ruth made his debut in professional baseball
• Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald married
• First stone in Washington DC Lincoln Memorial put in place
• First seaworthy ship passes through the Panama Canal
• The Ohio State University opened its football season with a win over visiting Ohio Wesleyan at the Ohio Field.

KRG opened its doors before the Battelle Institute (1925), the American Insurance Union Tower (1927, now known as the LeVeque Tower), Port Columbus (1929), and The Ohio State University stadium known as the Horseshoe (1922).
