Komen Chicago Awards Over $1 Million to Local Organizations To Fight Breast Cancer In 2015
Komen Chicago has now donated over $16 million to Chicagoland organizations to fund navigation, screening, diagnostics and treatment support.
CHICAGO, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Susan G. Komen® - Chicago recently announced its 2015 class of grantees. The total award of over $1 million will be allocated across the 14 recipient organizations. Since its founding, Komen Chicago has awarded over $16 million to breast cancer programs of local organizations to help end breast cancer in the Chicagoland Area.
"These institutions share Komen's commitment to helping everyone in the Chicagoland Area receive quality care so we can eradicate breast cancer forever," said Leticia Kees, Director of Community Programs & Partnerships for Komen Chicago. "These organizations play a significant role in their communities and can provide access to resources on a local basis. Their programs are a critical part of defeating breast cancer."
The grantees will be on-site at the 2015 Chicago Race for the Cure, on Sunday, May 10th, in Grant Park. "The Chicago Race for the Cure is our largest fundraising event, and is an incredible way to kick off Mother's Day," noted Komen Chicago's CEO Susan Tybon. "It is an opportunity to celebrate the breast cancer survivors in our community, and to ensure that we can continue fighting this disease with the help of our grantees' innovative programs."
