LISLE, Ill., Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- KONE Inc. today announced a contract with Hensel Phelps – one of the largest general contractors in the United States – to provide eight KONE MonoSpace® elevators for the Santa Clara Family Justice Center in San Jose, Calif.

The revolutionary KONE MonoSpace® is a machine room-less elevator which uses KONE EcoDisc® technology to reduce power use and minimize construction costs. One of the most environmentally sound elevator concepts in the industry, the KONE MonoSpace® consumes 50 percent less energy than a conventional traction machine and produces less heat.

The Santa Clara courthouse is the second courthouse project that KONE and Hensel Phelps have partnered on this year in the bay area.

"This project is a tremendous win for KONE in California, and is due to the outstanding efforts of our cross-functional team," said Larry Wash, KONE EVP and Area Director for KONE Americas. "We've enjoyed working with Hensel Phelps in the past, and welcome the opportunity to continue to support their clients' financial and environmental goals."

Installation of the elevators will begin in January 2015.
