RED BANK, N.J., May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The beating heart of the 35th America's Cup pitting the world's best sailors and world's fastest boats against each other May 26 through June 27, 2017 is spectacularly lit for millions of visitors by low energy lighting specialists Kopa Group of Red Bank, NJ.
The company specializing in energy efficient lighting solutions for commercial and industrial uses was brought in to design and engineer all lighting for the America's Cup Village constructed specifically for the month-long event within the island's historic Royal Naval Dockyard. As a planned permanent addition to the island, the village required Kopa's expertise to create something special.
Bermuda is playing host to the international sailing competition for the first time in the event's 162 year history and they are planning to deliver a memorable experience for the millions of spectators expected to attend.
Richard Kolber, Kopa's COO said, "While we lit up the roads and shopping village, it was especially rewarding to light the iconic twin clock towers, which now stands as a welcome to all who come by sea. The beauty of these towers is now a landmark at night that can be seen from miles away."
Immediately after Bermuda was awarded host duties, initial concerns were raised regarding safety at night and also lighting the area attractively. Kopa Group was retained to engineer, design, source and oversee the lighting of the venue and all its new construction covering 90 acres and 8 miles of roadway.
Renowned for crystal blue water and beautiful pink sand beaches, Bermuda's Great Sound will form a natural amphitheater for the primary race course, while the planned America's Cup Village at the Historic Royal Naval Dockyard will be the central gathering place of the America's Cup experience.
Kopa Group is headquartered in Red Bank, NJ, and specializes in Commercial & Industrial energy efficient lighting solutions.
