Kurtz Bros. Is Proud To Be A Sponsor Of EarthFest 2012 Presented By Earth Day Coalition At Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Sunday, April 22, 2012 From 10am-5pm
CLEVELAND, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kurtz Bros., Inc., a Cleveland-based company that prides itself on its commitment to the environment, will have a large, lavish landscaped display featuring the benefits of composting, rain gardens and other innovative gardening techniques at EarthFest 2012. The display will be located near the new and innovative Hoop House located in the Zoo Welcome Plaza. In partnership with Earth Day Coalition (NEORSC, Cleveland Crops and Tunnel Vision Hoops), Kurtz Bros. will also help build the Local and Sustainable Food exhibit in the 70 foot greenhouse hoop tent.
"We've sponsored EarthFest in the past and we are so pleased to do so again this year," states Doug Derbin, Marketing Manager at Kurtz Bros., Inc. "We're fortunate to be able to provide ideas on how to better serve the earth by our commitment to recycle what we've all already been given. Our Worm Dirt Compost is a prime example."
Worm Dirt Compost, available only at Kurtz Bros., starts with all-organic leaf and yard trimmings that have been fully composted to rich, loamy humus. It is then enriched with pure worm castings and Sweet Peet® to provide additional boost in fertility and beneficial soil microbes. Worm Dirt Compost will grow healthier, more colorful flowers, sweet lush fruits and vegetables, full, faster growing shrubs and trees.
"Worm castings are Mother Nature's superstar, having an incredible effect on plant life," remarks Derbin. "It's the most enriching soil conditioner available."
In addition to Worm Dirt Compost, Kurtz Bros. also offers Worm Dirt Topsoil and Worm Dirt Mulch.
Kurtz Bros.' landscaped display will also feature a Rain Garden. Rain gardens eliminate contaminants from storm water before they are able to pollute our lakes and streams. Designed with guidance from the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District, Kurtz Bros. offers Hydro Clear Bioretention Soil® which is formulated as an unparalleled "pollutant remover."
"Rain Gardens are very beneficial to the environment," says Derbin. "They help keep water clean by filtering storm water runoff before it enters local waterways. Rain Gardens also alleviate flooding, and enhance the beauty of our yards and communities."
The 23rd annual EarthFest festival and Walk for the Earth presented by Earth Day Coalition is April 22nd from 10am-5pm at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
